Data-Driven Content Built to Earn Links and Citations

Data-Driven Content Types

Surveys Icon

Original Surveys

Original survey research on a topic your audience cares about. The responses become findings that are yours alone, which gives writers and journalists a fresh source to cite.

Data Study Icon

Data Studies

Analysis of publicly available data from trusted sources, shaped into findings specific to your industry. It turns public information into an angle no one else has published.

Curated Statistics Icon

Curated Statistics

The most relevant stats on a topic, compiled into a single page that becomes a go-to reference. Every figure traces back to a credible original source, so the page earns trust and the links that come with it.

The Content Built Around the Research

To increase visibility, I create editorial content that gives your data a story and a reason for other people to cover it. That content lives on your website or blog as an asset you own.

Distribution that spreads your research

Once the content is live, I work to get it seen and linked.

Article syndication

I syndicate your editorial article through Stacker, which places your content on news websites throughout the United States, producing excellent visibility for your business.

Guest articles

I plan, write, and place articles on relevant websites and blogs, referencing your survey, data study, or statistics.

I also pitch journalists and bloggers who cover your space when there’s a relevant angle.

A Sample Project

Here’s what a project looks like, using research I published at Founder Reports as an example.

  1. I surveyed 1,000 US-based remote and hybrid workers about how they actually work and what they want from their employers.
  2. I analyzed the responses and built a remote work statistics page that covers the findings.
  3. I wrote an editorial article on an interesting angle of the data and syndicated it through Stacker.
  4. The syndicated article, which linked to the remote work stats page, was published on more than 270 news websites, including Yahoo, MSN, and AOL.
  5. Remote work stats page has links from more than 50 other websites, and that number continues to increase.

You can see more details about this project in the Founder Reports case study.

What This Does for You

  • Backlinks from real publications that strengthen your domain authority
  • Content that can rank in Google for terms relevant to your business
  • Visibility in AI search, where citations are what get you mentioned in answers
  • An “as seen on” lineup you can add to your own site
  • A long-term position as the source others reference in your industry

How This is Different Than Traditional PR

Traditional PR aims to get your business covered based on your unique story or the business’s merits. My work produces a durable asset that is used to earn mentions and links. The research may continue to get referenced, and the links may continue accumulating, compounding your authority over time.

FAQ

How long before I start seeing results?

It varies. The research and content usually take a few weeks to a month to produce, and links tend to build over the months that follow as more people discover and reference your data. Most projects have content created, an article syndicated, and some visibility earned with two months.

Do I own the content?

Yes. The research, the statistics page, and the editorial content all live on your site and belong to you.

How do you conduct the surveys?

Typically, I use a platform specifically for surveys. With this approach, I can collect data very quickly. Also, journalists and editors are familiar with the trusted survey platforms, so it helps with the report’s credibility.

Will this help me show up in AI search?

AI tools tend to surface sources that are widely cited and referenced. Earning links and citations to your research is one of the better ways to become one of those sources.

How is this different than a PR agency?

Most PR is built around pitching for placements that run once. My work is built around creating an asset that aims to keep earning links and citations. I do pitch journalists who cover related topics, but that is not the core of my work.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on the scope of the research and how much distribution you want. Get in touch, and we can talk about the details for your specific situation.
